Today is finally hybernation day, not that I was sleeping all day. I have been cooking down a nice marinara sauce that I roasted tomatoes onions and peppers for yesterday. I had intended to do the sauce all day yesterday but it was not to be. I meant to do the sauce last weekend but that was not meant to be. Our dryer decided to die, so we needed to go shopping.
Thursday started off with some sleeping in, and then a nice leisurely turkey bake. I forgot roasting bags so I decided to let Russ do the paper grocery sack method. This is where you put the turkey in a grocery sack ink side up (although with all the nifty soy ink may not matter much). Then you staple the sack shut and put your bird in the oven and well a half an hour per pound and all that. It cooked the turkey nicely but didn't leave a lot of au juis for the stuffing.
Wednesday there was a pot luck at work. Early Wednesday morning my daughter decided to get up so I let her be mix master of my first ever spinach artichoke dip. Which was a hit, but I miss calculated the amount of Hawaain Bread I needed. I got two bags instead of one I could used the Hawaain bread in the stuffing and that was fantastic. We didn't have enough broth for gravy though, so we put cheese in the mashy taters. I never usually mean to make potatoes, but when Russ decided to make broth from the giblet and innards, I decided that sounded good. The stuffing took all that too.
Friday had to work, and husband wanted to check a Black Friday deal at Sears, so we went and then I high tailed it to work. I work across the street from the Mall of America. Traffic wasn't bad, there weren't too many people trying to get into the place at the time I got there. This month is going to be annoying trying to navigate around all the people who seem to think this is the place to go. When ever I happen to be there which is hardly never, I stand on home plate in the middle of the theme park and wish it was an outdoor stadium again.
Saturday proved to be just as busy, I cooked down the tomatoes and veg, then we ran out for a deal on a dryer. Yep I'm another day older and deeper in debt. Then my cousin's son was in a championship high school football game which we watched on the tele. Just so happened that his grandparents and her sisters which include my Mom were here shopping anyway. After the game was over my daughter and I high tailed it down to meet them where they wanted to eat supper. They lost by two, dissappointing.
I wanted to go to a piano store to get some sheet music, but the piano store turned into a hockey shop. Guess buying an actual real piano is kinda old school... so sad. Truth be told even my piano is but an electronic with not all 88. If I had room and the time for a babygrand I would love a black one but I don't so goes life. My daughter was not happy to not be able to check out the hockey store. So then we met my husband at Target and found Buzz Light Year jammies that made her happy.
So now I'm sitting making supper and letting the tomatoe sauce cook for a final hour. The chicken in the oven and rice in the cooker. Tomorrow the rat race begins again, but for now I'll sit back and relax and watch a Star Wars Marathon. Ahhhhhhhh hybernation day. I had one of those magical days where you get up, hang out take a bath, and put on fresh jammies. I love hybernation days.
